Understand the reasoning
Use real economic issues to explain a concept before moving to the terminology and models.
Economic ideas are much easier to use when you understand the story behind them. We start there, then build towards confident analysis.
Discuss your subjectLessons connect economic theory to everyday choices, businesses and the wider economy. I explain ideas in familiar language first, then help you become comfortable with the terminology and reasoning your course expects.
Use real economic issues to explain a concept before moving to the terminology and models.
Connect calculations, graphs and evidence to the economic argument you are making.
Practise the application, analysis and evaluation needed in data-response questions and essays.
These are some of the areas we can work on. Lessons follow your exam board’s specification, with time to revisit the topics you find difficult.
Supply and demand, price determination, and calculating and interpreting price, income and cross elasticity.
Externalities, public goods, information problems, taxes, subsidies and evaluating government intervention.
Costs, revenue and profit, market structures, business objectives, wage determination and competition.
Growth, inflation, unemployment and the balance of payments, using aggregate demand and aggregate supply analysis.
Fiscal, monetary and supply-side policies, their transmission mechanisms and conflicts between policy objectives.
Trade, protectionism, exchange rates, globalisation and economic development, as required by your specification.
Content and assessment vary by qualification. Please share your exam board, syllabus code and exam year so we use the right specification and practice materials.
Economics exam answers need clear reasoning, relevant evidence and careful evaluation. We work on explaining how and why an outcome follows, rather than listing possible effects.
We can use past-paper questions, mark schemes and your previous answers to identify what needs attention, then practise under timed conditions when you’re ready.
Choose the right model, label it accurately and explain the changes shown as part of your written analysis.
Practise elasticity, percentage changes and index numbers, then use the results and extract data to support your answer.
Build a logical chain of reasoning, question assumptions and consider factors such as time periods and the wider economic context.
Respond to the command word, balance arguments and reach a supported judgement, with timed practice and feedback.
